Believe

“Believers believe, It’s what we do.” My brother Paul said this once in one of his sermons and I could not help saying a great big “AMEN” because it’s so true!  It’s a no brainer.  If you are a believer, and you have trusted God as the higher power, then there is no amount of bad news that can stop you from believing.  Just like a corn seed grows into corn, and a mamma sheep has baby sheep, we as believers have the seed of faith inside of us just waiting to naturally come out.

The sad thing is that our believing muscles usually only come out when our faith is tested by a trial. The scripture is chock full of examples of God’s children facing giants, storms, enemies, and sicknesses and overcoming by faith!  So the journey to believing is not a fun one.  It’s a hard road but it leads us to stronger faith.  I’m no better than any of the patriarchs of the Bible who had to go through tough times, and hold on to an unfailing God to get me through.   So I was not surprised by the trial, because I know the foundational truth, that trials come to make us stronger.  So I just accepted the trial, and felt honored that God had chosen me to become one of those testimonies of His overcoming power!

Don’t get me wrong by thinking I am some super spiritual woman of Faith who never thinks negative thoughts.  There are days in every believer’s life when that seed of faith gets clouded over with fear and doubt, but if we choose ahead of time, that we are going to ignore the voice of doubt, and believe in hope, the end result is so much better.   If I had let my mind go down the road of “what if’s, ” I know I would have given in to what I call the “dark side” of thinking.  The reason I call it the dark side is because it leads to all dark things like sadness, hopelessness, depression, helplessness.  I knew if I rejected the “what if’s” and trusted God to take me through it, I could be confident in Him and in every single promise He had given me in His Word.

Nothing but good has come from believing God’s Word and trusting Him during this season.  He has given me peace, confidence and joy during the biggest trial I have ever been through. It has not been easy.  It has been really hard. Hard on me, hard on my body, hard on my family, hard on my friends, but there are three things I have enjoyed throughout:

1-The Favor of God.

2-The Love of my Family.

3-The Powerful Prayers of my Friends.

Life doesn’t get much better than that!
